I'm Abbe, a full time working mom of two in Albemarle County, VA. Between my wonderful husband, two children, and my full time job (for which I travel throughout the northeast), there's not much free time left, but I make time for my passion - photography! I also love to cross stitch (particularly large-scale projects), read (fantasy, mysteries, and modern literature in particular), and generally be crafty. I'm a music buff, and have a song running through my head nearly constantly. I love being around others, but also relish my alone time (the precious little of it that exists!).

In 2011, my husband gave me my first DSLR camera, and I was immediately hooked! I started taking photography classes immediately, with the goal of taking those great photos you see with the subject in focus, and a creamy soft background (goal accomplished!). I've been growing as a photographer since then, and I'm loving every minute of this journey. Here on my blog I post a lot of my personal photography: things that I find interesting or beautiful to photograph, new styles of editing, and photos from my many travels.

In 2012, I was asked to do my first shoot for someone else, and while it was nerve-wracking, it added a new dimension to my photography! I love capturing special moments for others. Family and child sessions are mostly outdoors, taking advantage of the beautiful natural light we have here in Virginia.

In 2015, I "fell into" what ended up becoming my photography passion - dance photography! Sometimes, it's as simple as being in the right place, at the right time, with your gear. When the photographer hired by my daughter's dance studio walked out mid-dress rehearsal, I was asked to step in...and that, as they say, was that! Since then, I've shot thousands of photos of the beautiful dancers at the Loudoun School of Ballet - during stage rehearsals, and also in one-on-one photo shoots. I look forward to expanding into the dance/portrait world in Albemarle County as well!
